Syntypes: (several) BMNH 1922.3.27.12 (1). •Valid as Neolaeops microphthalmus (von Bonde 1922) -- (Amaoka 1969:213 [ref. 105], Amaoka in Masuda et al. 1984:350 [ref. 6441], Hensley 1986:860 [ref. 5669], Li & Wang 1995:162 [ref. 16193], Amaoka in Randall & Lim 2000:645 [ref. 25122], Nakabo 2000:1370 [ref. 25182], Hensley & Amaoka 2001:3837 [ref. 26311], Shinohara et al. 2001:334 [ref. 25995], Nakabo 2002:1370 [ref. 26193], Ho et al. 2009:11 [ref. 31461], Fricke et al. 2018:371 [ref. 35805]). Current status: Valid as Neolaeops microphthalmus (von Bonde 1922). Bothidae. Distribution: Indo-West Pacific: South Africa and Madagascar east to Philippines, north to southern Japan, south to northern Australia and New Caledonia. Habitat: marine.
