Holotype (unique): USNM 75675. •Synonym of Symphurus strictus Gilbert 1905, but a valid subspecies -- (Li & Wang 1995:382 [ref. 16193]). •Valid as Symphurus hondoensis Hubbs 1915 -- (Munroe & Amaoka 1998:385 [ref. 23626], Nakabo 2000:1392 [ref. 25182], Nakabo 2002:1392 [ref. 26193], Shao et al. 2008:265 [ref. 29952], Lee et al. 2009:346 [ref. 30207], Lee et al. 2013:395 [ref. 32506]). Current status: Valid as Symphurus hondoensis Hubbs 1915. Cynoglossidae: Symphurinae. Distribution: Western North Pacific. Habitat: marine.
