Type catalog: Henn 1928:78 [ref. 12305], Ibarra & Stewart 1987:66 [ref. 12367], Ferraris 2007:181 [ref. 29155]. •Valid as Pimelodus heteropleurus Eigenmann 1912 -- (Burgess 1989:279 [ref. 12860]). •Valid as Brachyrhamdia heteropleura (Eigenmann 1812) -- (Bockmann & Guazzelli in Reis et al. 2003:410 [ref. 27061], Ferraris 2007:181 [ref. 29155], Slobodian & Bockmann 2013:20 [ref. 32905], Grant 2021:147 [ref. 38702], Taphorn et al. 2022:48 [ref. 41297]). Current status: Valid as Brachyrhamdia heteropleura (Eigenmann 1912). Heptapteridae: Rhamdiinae. Distribution: South America: Corantijn, Essequibo and Negro River basins (Guyana, Suriname and northern Brazil). Habitat: freshwater.
