Lectotype: BMNH 1935.6.14.2279. Paralectotypes: (26) BMNH 1935.6.14.2266-2268 (3?), 1935.6.14.2269-2270 (2?), 1935.6.14.2271-2276 (7); MNHN 1937-0238 [ex BMNH] (1); NMW 33013 (1). Type catalog: Blanc 1962:204 [ref. 20868]. Lectotype selected by Eccles in Eccles & Trewavas 1989:143 [ref. 13547]. •Valid as Aulonocara rostratum Trewavas 1935 -- (Eccles & Trewavas 1989:142 [ref. 13547], Maréchal 1991:16 [ref. 20944], Konings 1995:30 [ref. 21860], Tawil 2003:96 [ref. 28055], Konings 2016:362 [ref. 34521]). Current status: Valid as Aulonocara rostratum Trewavas 1935. Cichlidae: Pseudocrenilabrinae. Distribution: Eastern Africa: Lake Malawi. Habitat: freshwater.
