striatus, Sargus Bliss [R.] 1883:50 [Transactions of the Royal Society of Arts and Sciences of Mauritius (N. S.) v. 13; ref. 16966] Mauritius, Mascarenes, southwestern Indian Ocean. Holotype (unique): MCZ 5731. •Synonym of Diplodus cervinus (Lowe 1838), but a valid subspecies -- (Fricke 1999:293 [ref. 24106], Heemstra et al. 2004:3321 [ref. 27945]). •Valid as Diplodus striatus (Bliss 1883) -- (Fricke et al. 2016:14 [ref. 34520], Parenti 2019:82 [ref. 36892]). Current status: Valid as Diplodus striatus (Bliss 1883). Sparidae. Distribution: Southwestern Indian Ocean: Mauritius and Rodrigues Island (Mascarenes endemic). Habitat: marine.
