Paratypes: AMS I.26316-001 (1); BPBM 30940 (4); WAM P.25114-004 (1), P.25117-009 (1), P.27274-046 (5). Type information: Hutchins & Smith 1991:24 [ref. 19335], Moore et al. 2008:25 [ref. 30117]. •Valid as Apogon pallidofasciatus Allen 1987 -- (Allen & Swainston 1988:66 [ref. 25477], Paxton et al. 1989:549 [ref. 12442], Allen 1997:102 [ref. 23977], Allen 1999:2606 [ref. 24812], Johnson 1999:732 [ref. 25471], Hutchins 2001:31 [ref. 25847], Allen et al. 2006:1093 [ref. 29004]). •Valid as Ostorhinchus pallidofasciatus (Allen 1987) -- (Larson et al. 2013:113 [ref. 32988], Mabuchi et al. 2014:200 [ref. 33426], Kuiter & Kozawa 2019:117 [ref. 36965], Allen & Erdmann 2024:426 [ref. 40796]). Current status: Valid as Ostorhinchus pallidofasciatus (Allen 1987). Apogonidae: Apogoninae. Distribution: Eastern Indian Ocean: Aru Islands (Indonesia), northern Western Australia to Northern Territory (Australia). Habitat: marine.
