P.] 1991:77, Figs. 54-57 [Smithsonian Contributions to Zoology v. 507; ref. 19019] Small caño draining into Río Oronoco, about 1 kilometer upstream of mouth of Río Zuata, Guarico, Venezuela. Holotype: MBUCV-V-19300. Paratypes: MBUCV-V-8942 (1), V-13489 (2), V-19301 to 02 (4, 1); USNM 235462 (2), 258008 (2), 258081 (3), 302170 (1); plus non-type material. Type catalog: Vari & Howe 1991:40 [ref. 19022], Provenzano et al. 1998:17-18 [ref. 24196]. •Valid as Steindachnerina pupula Vari 1991 -- (Taphorn 1992:426 [ref. 23654], Pavanelli & Britski 1999:216 [ref. 24224], Vari in Reis et al. 2003:61 [ref. 27061], Netto-Ferreira & Vari 2011:527 [ref. 31707], DoNascimiento et al. 2017:43 [ref. 35633], Urbano-Bonilla et al. 2018:82 [ref. 35773], Cortés Hernández et al. 2023:456 [ref. 40760]). Current status: Valid as Steindachnerina pupula Vari 1991. Curimatidae. Distribution: South America: Orinoco River basin (Colombia and Venezuela). Habitat: freshwater.
