Holotype (unique): BMNH 1867.11.28.322. Subjectively invalid; secondarily preoccupied by Ophisurus lumbricoides Bleeker 1853 when both are in Ophichthys, replaced by Ophichthys timorensis Günther 1870. Also appeared in Bleeker 1865:46 [ref. 408]. •Valid as Yirrkala lumbricoides (Bleeker 1864) -- (Paxton et al. 1989:121 [ref. 12442], McCosker 2007:6 [ref. 29192], McCosker 2022:135 [ref. 39686]). 2°Homonym. Current status: Valid as Yirrkala lumbricoides (Bleeker 1864). Ophichthidae: Ophichthinae. Distribution: Indo-West Pacific: KwaZulu-Natal (South Africa), Seychelles and Sri Lanka; Indonsia east to Philippines, north to Vietnam, south to northern Australia. Habitat: marine.
