Type catalog: Henn 1928:75 [ref. 12305], Ibarra & Stewart 1987:17 [ref. 12367] as type missing, Ferraris 2007:180 [ref. 29155]. Appeared first as name only in Eigenmann 1910:384 [ref. 1224] as Breviglanis. •Valid as Brachyglanis frenata Eigenmann 1912 -- (Burgess 1989:276 [ref. 12860], Bockmann & Guazzelli in Reis et al. 2003:410 [ref. 27061], Ferraris 2007:180 [ref. 29155] as frenatus). Current status: Valid as Brachyglanis frenata Eigenmann 1912. Heptapteridae. Distribution: Essequibo, Negro, Orinoco and Urubu River basins: Brazil, Guyana and Venezuela. Habitat: freshwater.
