Paratypes: RMNH 24650 [ex WAM P.5351] (2); WAM P.5351-001 (11, now 9), P.5358-001 (3), P.5373-001 (5), P.5423-001 (2, missing), P.5424-001 (1, missing). Type catalog: Hutchins & Smith 1991:23 [ref. 19335], Moore et al. 2008:24 [ref. 30117]. •Valid as Leiopotherapon aheneus (Mees 1963) -- (Vari 1978:236 [ref. 4514], Paxton et al. 1989:533 [ref. 12442], Unmack 2001:1063 [ref. 25797], Hutchins 2001:31 [ref. 25847], Allen et al. 2002:225 [ref. 25930], Allen et al. 2006:1336 [ref. 29004], Davis et al. 2012:1173 [ref. 32013], Morgan et al. 2014:22 [ref. 36567]). Current status: Valid as Leiopotherapon aheneus (Mees 1963). Terapontidae. Distribution: Western Australia: Pilbara endemic (Fortescue, Ashburton and Robe rivers). Habitat: freshwater.
