nudiceps, Cnidoglanis Günther [A.] 1880:49 [Report on the shore fishes procured during the voyage of H. M. S. Challenger in the years 1873-1876 v. 1 (pt 6); ref. 2011] Arafura Sea. Holotype: BMNH 1879.5.14.590. Non-types: BMNH 1890.2.26.165 (1). Type catalog: Ferraris 2007:346 [ref. 29155]. Original description does not indicate number of specimens, so Paxton et al. 1989:223 recognition of a holotype would establish a lectotype even if specimen 165 also is shown to be a type. •Valid as Cnidoglanis nudiceps Günther 1880 -- (Rainboth 1996:168 [ref. 22772] with authorship Weber & de Beaufort). •Valid as Euristhmus nudiceps (Günther 1880) -- (Allen & Swainston 1988:36 [ref. 25477], Paxton et al. 1989:223 [ref. 12442], Burgess 1989:180 [ref. 12860], Allen 1997:60 [ref. 23977], Ferraris 1999:1882 [ref. 24731], Johnson 1999:723 [ref. 25471], Ferraris in Randall & Lim 2000:589 [ref. 25122], Hutchins 2001:21 [ref. 25847], Murdy & Ferraris 2006:85 [ref. 28937], Hoese & Gates 2006:360 [ref. 28997], Ferraris 2007:346 [ref. 29155], Prokofiev 2008:671 [ref. 29826], Larson et al. 2013:41 [ref. 32988], Gloerfelt-Tarp & Kailola 2022:73 [ref. 41223]). Current status: Valid as Euristhmus nudiceps (Günther 1880). Plotosidae. Distribution: Eastern Indian Ocean, western Pacific: South China Sea; northern Australia and New Guinea.
