Current status: Valid as Anguilla labiata (Peters 1852). Anguillidae. Distribution: Western Indian Ocean and Africa: South African, East African, Réunion and Mauritius (western Mascarenes) watersheds and adjacent waters of Western Indian Ocean. Habitat: freshwater, brackish, marine.
