Current status: Valid as Nibea squamosa Sasaki 1992. Sciaenidae. Distribution: Eastern Indian Ocean, western Pacific: northern Australia and south-central New Guinea (Papua Province, Indonesia and Papua New Guinea). Habitat: freshwater, brackish, marine.
