Neotype: ZIN 15497 (1 of 5, 154 mm). Syntypes: ?NMW 88576 (6) Black Sea and Lower Danube. Appeared in more detail in Antipa 1906:28, Pl. 2 (figs. 6-10) [ref. 6859]. Neotype designated by Svetovidov 1952 [ref. 21481]. •Synonym of Caspialosa caspia (Eichwald 1838), but a valid subspecies -- (Berg 1948:135 [ref. 12882]). •Synonym of Alosa caspia (Eichwald 1838), but a valid subspecies -- (Svetovidov 1973:106 [ref. 7169], Whitehead in Whitehead et al. 1984:271 [ref. 13675], Whitehead 1985:197 [ref. 5141], Kolarov 1991:155 [ref. 24832], Reshetnikov et al. 1997:727 [ref. 24702], Dorofeeva 1998:25 [ref. 23573], Vassilev & Pehlivanov 2005:163 [ref. 28369]). •Synonym of Alosa tanaica (Grimm 1901) -- (Kottelat 1997:40 [ref. 22952], Bilecenoğlu et al. 2002:35 [ref. 26753], Parin et al. 2014:53 [ref. 33547], Çiçek et al. 2023:331 [ref. 40625]). Current status: Synonym of Alosa tanaica (Grimm 1901). Alosidae. Habitat: freshwater, brackish, marine.
