J.] 1991:719, Figs. 1-2 [Copeia 1991 (no. 3); ref. 19768] Kona coast at cave on north side of Ka'u Loa Point, 20-30 meters back from entrance, Hawaii Island, Hawaiian Islands. Holotype: BPBM 29189. Paratypes: AMS I.24709-001 [ex BPBM 29190] (1); BMNH 1985.1.8.2 (1); BPBM 29190 (7); CAS 29109 (1); MNHN 1985-0004 (1); RMNH 29441 (1); SAIAB [formerly RUSI] 22043 (1); USNM 268198 (3), 272645 (1). •Valid as Lachneratus phasmaticus Fraser & Struhsaker 1991 -- (Randall 1998:37 [ref. 23433], Allen 1999:2607 [ref. 24812], Mundy 2005:357 [ref. 28379], Randall 2007:214 [ref. 30952], Mabuchi et al. 2014:199 [ref. 33426], Delrieu-Trottin et al. 2015:6 [ref. 33988], Mabuchi et al. 2015:44 [ref. 34429], Kuiter & Kozawa 2019:78 [ref. 36965], Fraser et al. 2022:189 [ref. 39752]). Current status: Valid as Lachneratus phasmaticus Fraser & Struhsaker 1991. Apogonidae: Apogoninae. Distribution: Indo-West Pacific: Comoros, Mascarenes (Mauritius); Vanuatu, Fiji, Marquesas Islands; Hawaiian Islands (U.S.A.); probably more widespread. Habitat: marine.
