Paralectotypes: CAS 28544 [ex IU 15380] (4, now 2, 2 to USNM), USNM 86820 [ex IU 15380] (1), 167890 [ex IU 15380] (1). Type catalog: Ferraris & Vari 1992:27 [ref. 19771], Ferraris 2007:290 [ref. 29155]. Original description lists IU 15380, 5 specimens, type and paratypes. Lectotype selected by Isbrücker & Nijssen 1978:71 [ref. 2305]. •Valid as Pterosturisoma microps (Eigenmann & Allen 1942) -- (Isbrücker 1980:92 [ref. 2303], Ortega & Vari 1986:18 [ref. 9708], Burgess 1989:440 [ref. 12860], Isbrücker 2001:27, 32 [ref. 25653], Isbrücker 2002:28 [ref. 27178], Ferraris in Reis et al. 2003:340 [ref. 27061], Ferraris 2007:290 [ref. 29155], de Carvalho Paixão & Toledo-Piza 2009:565 [ref. 30675], Barriga Salazar 2014:112 [ref. 35745] as cf. microps, Sarmiento et al. 2014:192 [ref. 35004], see DoNascimiento et al. 2017:[17] [ref. 35679], Meza-Vargas et al. 2021:26 [ref. 39298]). Current status: Valid as Pterosturisoma microps (Eigenmann & Allen 1942). Loricariidae: Loricariinae. Distribution: South America: upper Amazon River basin (?Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia). Habitat: freshwater.
