Paratypes: NRM 43059 [A87/1967073.3941] (1); ZMA 105080-81 (4, 32). •Valid as Geophagus brokopondo Kullander & Nijssen 1989 -- (Kullander in Reis et al. 2003:633 [ref. 27061], López-Fernández & Taphorn 2004:3 [ref. 27573], Staeck & Schindler 2006:74 [ref. 28755], Hauser & López-Fernández 2013:279 [ref. 32965]). Current status: Valid as Geophagus brokopondo Kullander & Nijssen 1989. Cichlidae: Cichlinae. Distribution: Suriname River basin, Suriname and Guyana. Habitat: freshwater.
