Holotype: USNM 317941. Paratypes: BPBM 35000 (2), CAS 76305 (2), SMF 18067 (2), USNM 296249 (99). Kottelat (2013) records an inland record in Natuna Islands (Tan & Lim 2004:110). •Valid as Praealticus striatus Bath 1992 -- (Springer in Randall & Lim 2000:634 [ref. 25122], Springer 2001:3546 [ref. 26290], Suzuki et al. 2001:2 [ref. 25835], Tan & Lim 2004:110 [ref. 27716], Adrim et al. 2004:125 [ref. 27715], Patzner et al. 2009:460 [ref. 30396], Motomura et al. 2010:197 [ref. 31256], Allen & Erdmann 2012:831 [ref. 31980], Kottelat 2013:385 [ref. 32989], Fricke et al. 2014:152 [ref. 33932], Koeda et al. 2016:86 [ref. 35333], Furuhashi & Motomura 2022:16 [ref. 39607]). Current status: Valid as Praealticus striatus Bath 1992. Blenniidae: Salariinae. Distribution: Western Pacific: southern Japan and Taiwan to Philippines and Vietnam, Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands and Vanuatu. Habitat: marine.
