Current status: Valid as Paramonacanthus frenatus (Peters 1855). Monacanthidae. Distribution: Western Indian Ocean: KwaZulu-Natal (South Africa), East Africa (Mozambique, Tanzania, Kenya) and Seychelles east to west coast of India. Habitat: marine.
