Relacement for Monopterus indicus Eapen 1963, secondarily preoccupied in Monopterus by Monopterus indicus (Silas & Dawson 1961). When both species are not in Monopterus, the secondaire homonym has to be reinstated again, being replaced after 1960 [ICZN Art. 59.4]. •Valid as Monopterus eapeni Talwar 1991 -- (Bailey & Gans 1998:6 [ref. 23296], Menon 1999:281 [ref. 24904], Romero & Paulson 2001:33 [ref. 26040], Gopi 2002:139 [ref. 27553], Proudlove 2006:186 [ref. 28992], Britz et al. 2016:321 [ref. 34914]). •Synonym of Rakthamichthys indicus (Eapen 1963) -- (Britz et al. 2020:229 [ref. 38035]).
