Once named compressus in original description, a typographical error. •Valid as Melanocharacidium compressum Buckup 1993 -- (Buckup in Reis et al. 2003:92 [ref. 27061] as compressus, Buckup 2024:307 [ref. 40817]). Current status: Valid as Melanocharacidium compressum Buckup 1993. Crenuchidae: Characidiinae. Distribution: South America: upper Orinoco River basin, Venezuela. Habitat: freshwater.
