Holotype: USNM 44617. Paratypes: MCZ 37165 (1, missing). •Valid as Hildebrandia gracilior (Ginsburg 1951) -- (Robins & Ray 1986:58 [ref. 23100], Cervigón 1992:304 [ref. 23827]). •Valid as Rhynchoconger gracilior (Ginsburg 1951) -- (Smith 1989:526 [ref. 13285], Smith 1989:749 [ref. 13285], Boschung 1992:39 [ref. 23239], McEachran & Fechhelm 1998:309 [ref. 23897], Castle & Smith 1999:975 [ref. 25141], Smith 2003:750 [ref. 26989], Moore et al. 2003:175 [ref. 27076], Nelson et al. 2004:65 [ref. 27807], Page et al. 2013:65 [ref. 32708], Page et al. 2023:57 [ref. 40505], Fricke et al. 2024:134 [ref. 41622]). Current status: Valid as Rhynchoconger gracilior (Ginsburg 1951). Congridae: Congrinae. Distribution: Western Atlantic: Florida (U.S.A.) south to northern Brazil, including Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean Sea. IUCN (2015): Least Concern. Habitat: marine.
