Holotype: NMNZ P.22582. Paratypes: NMNZ P.10358 (7), 11274 (1), 11519 (2), 15127 (1), 21030 (1), 22583-86 (4), 22587 (1), 22588-89 (2), 22590-91 (2), 22592-93 (2), 22618-19 (2), 22620-22 (1, 1, 1), 22623-26 (4), 22630-31 (2), 22634-40 (7), 22627-29 (3). The specific name appears to be based on a Greek noun [kelainos + stoma = black mouth], so the spelling celaenostoma should have been retained, but prevaling usage appears to favor celaenostomus. •Valid as Caelorinchus celaenostomus McMillan & Paulin 1993 -- (Iwamoto & Merrett 1997:490 [ref. 23710], Iwamoto 1999:1991 [ref. 24761], Merrett & Iwamoto 2000:743 [ref. 25037]. •Valid as Coelorinchus celaenostomus McMillan & Paulin 1993 -- McMillan & Iwamoto 2009:44 [ref. 30414], Fricke et al. 2011:363 [ref. 31242], McMillan & Iwamoto 2015:771 [ref. 34263], Nakayama et al. 2015:[11] [ref. 35271], Nakayama 2020:63 [ref. 37888] as celaenostoma, Prokofiev & Iwamoto 2023:146 [ref. 40262]). Current status: Valid as Coelorinchus celaenostomus McMillan & Paulin 1993. Macrouridae. Distribution: New Zealand region. Habitat: marine.
