Holotype: UMMZ 196701. Paratypes: LSUMZ 1216 (7); UF 14575 (10); UANL 1031 (10), 1321 (4), 1327 (38, ? now 36); UMMZ 172195 (251, now 241, 6 c&s, 1 skel.), 187685 (11), 188800 (13), 189278 (47), 189573 (113, 6 c&s), 192511 (4), 193448 (24), 193473 (19), 196338 (72), 196702 (15, 2 c&s); USNM 325999 [ex UANL 1327] (2). Type catalog: Gilbert 1998:70-71 [ref. 23395], Contreras-Balderas et al. 1998:3 [ref. 23752]. The species epithet dichroma is apparently a noun. •Valid as Dionda dichroma Hubbs & Miller 1977 -- (Espinosa Pérez et al. 1993:13 [ref. 22290], Gilbert 1998:70-71 [ref. 23395], Nelson et al. 2004:70 [ref. 27807], Scharpf 2005:15 [ref. 28940], Miller 2006:116 [ref. 28615]). •Valid as Tampichthys dichromus (Hubbs & Miller 1977) -- (Schönhuth et al. 2008:745 [ref. 29831], Page et al. 2013:78 [ref. 32708], Page et al. 2023:76 [ref. 40505]). Current status: Valid as Tampichthys dichroma (Hubbs & Miller 1977). Leuciscidae: Pogonichthyinae. Distribution: Southern North America: Atlantic Slope (Mexico). Habitat: freshwater.
