López et al. 2007:959 [ref. 29442] place in the Colocongridae based on DNA evidence. •Valid as Thalassenchelys foliaceus Castle & Raju 1975 -- (Shimokawa et al. 1995:89 [ref. 22702], Fricke et al. 2011:349 [ref. 31242]). •Synonym of Congriscus maldivensis (Norman 1939) -- (Kurogi et al. 2015:[6] 244 [ref. 34038], Chow et al. 2016:2204 [ref. 34808]).
