Most of the description and the figure is based on a 564-mm specimen in THUP 2671 [now NMMBP 1405]. •Synonym of Gavialiceps taeniola Alcock 1889 -- (Zhang et al. 2010:300 [ref. 31511]). •Valid as Gavialiceps taiwanensis (Chen & Weng 1967) -- (Karmovskaya 1993:73 [ref. 22018], Smith in Randall & Lim 2000:586 [ref. 25122], Ho et al. 2010:25 [ref. 31218], Ho & Shao 2011:24 [ref. 31432], Ho et al. 2015:8 [ref. 34116], Ho et al. 2015:150 [ref. 34130], Lin & Ho 2018:217 [ref. 36047]). Current status: Valid as Gavialiceps taiwanensis (Chen & Weng 1967). Congridae: Congrinae. Distribution: Western Pacific. Habitat: marine.
