D.] (ex Chiereghin) 1847:col. 125 [Sinonimia moderna delle specie registrate nell' opera intitolata: ...; ref. 17994] Not far from sea in rivers draining to lagoon of Venezia, Italy. No types known. See also Ninni 1872:40 [ref. 17995] where Chiereghin manuscript is quoted. Kottelat 1997:134 [ref. 22952] "restricted" the name to the "northern Italian fario", but the Code does not provide for such restriction in that manner. •Questionably valid as Salmo cenerinus Nardo 1847 -- (Kottelat 1997:134 [ref. 22952]). •Valid as Salmo cenerinus Nardo 1847 -- (Kottelat & Freyhof 2007:413 [ref. 29996]). •Synonymus as Salmo marmoratus Cuvier 1829 -- (Bianco & Delmastro 2011:3 [ref. 31648], Bianco 2013:3 [ref. 32897]). Current status: Synonym of Salmo marmoratus Cuvier 1829. Salmonidae: Salmoninae. Habitat: freshwater, brackish, marine.
