See also Ninni 1872:40 [ref. 17995] where Chiereghini manuscript is quoted. Kottelat 1997:134 [ref. 22952] "restricted" the name to the "northern Italian fario", but the Code does not provide for such restriction in that manner. •Questionably valid as Salmo cenerinus Nardo 1847 -- (Kottelat 1997:134 [ref. 22952]). •Synonym of Salmo marmoratus Cuvier 1829 -- (Bianco & Delmastro 2011:3 [ref. 31648], Bianco 2013:3 [ref. 32897]). •Valid as Salmo cenerinus Nardo 1847 -- (Kottelat & Freyhof 2007:413 [ref. 29996], Splendiani et al. 2019:437 [ref. 37214], Schöffmann 2021:124 [ref. 38997] as cf. cenerinus, Segherloo et al. 2021:10 [ref. 39584] as cf. cenerinus).
