Syntypes: IHASW 771465 (1), 771372 (1). Original genus is correctly Nemacheilus. •Synonym of Triplophysa brachyptera (Herzenstein 1888) -- (Prokofiev 2007:8 [ref. 28990], Prokofiev 2010:895 [ref. 31096] with question, Kottelat 2012:124 [ref. 32367] with question). •Valid as Barbatula minxianensis (Wang & Zhu 1979) -- (Prokofiev 2015:461 [ref. 34065], Prokofiev 2016:396 [ref. 34693], Prokofiev 2018:273 [ref. 35878]). •Valid as Triplophysa minxianensis (Wang & Zhu 1979) -- (Zhu 1989:73 [ref. 17744], Wu & Wu 1992:152 [ref. 21205], Zhu 1995:113 [ref. 25213], Chen & Zhang in Chen 1998:63 [ref. 23556], Zhang et al. 2016:141 [ref. 34477]). Current status: Valid as Triplophysa minxianensis (Wang & Zhu 1979). Nemacheilidae. Distribution: Taohe River drainage, upper Yellow River system, Gansu, China. Habitat: freshwater.
