Megadontognathus is masculine, therefore mandatory correction to cuyuniensis. •Valid as Apteronotus cuyuniense (Mago-Leccia 1994) -- (Albert & Campos-da-Paz 1998:430 [ref. 23853], Albert 2001:109 [ref. 25614]). •Valid as Megadontognathus cuyuniensis Mago-Leccia 1994 (often as cuyuniense) -- (Campos-da-Paz 1999:1041 [ref. 24190], Albert in Reis et al. 2003:499 [ref. 27061], Ferraris et al. 2017:[9] [ref. 35236] as cuyuniense, Bernt et al. 2018:473 [ref. 35797] as cuyuniense). Current status: Valid as Megadontognathus cuyuniensis Mago-Leccia 1994. Apteronotidae: Apteronotinae. Distribution: Cuyuni and Caroní River basins, Bolivar, Venezuela. Habitat: freshwater.
