cuyuniense, Megadontognathus Mago-Leccia [F.] 1994:81, Figs. 58, 89a, 89b [Electric fishes of the continental waters of America; ref. 21320] Río Cuyuni at Paruruvaca rapids, Bolivar, Venezuela. Holotype: MBUCV-V-9499. Paratypes: MBUCV-V-17940 (1), MCNG 10956 (2). Type catalog: Provenzano et al. 1998:12 [ref. 24196], Ferraris et al. 2017:[9] [ref. 35236]. Megadontognathus is masculine, therefore mandatory correction to cuyuniensis. •Valid as Apteronotus cuyuniense (Mago-Leccia 1994) -- (Albert & Campos-da-Paz 1998:430 [ref. 23853], Albert 2001:109 [ref. 25614]). •Valid as Megadontognathus cuyuniensis Mago-Leccia 1994 (often as cuyuniense) -- (Campos-da-Paz 1999:1041 [ref. 24190], Albert in Reis et al. 2003:499 [ref. 27061], Ferraris et al. 2017:[9] [ref. 35236] as cuyuniense, Bernt et al. 2018:473 [ref. 35797] as cuyuniense). Current status: Valid as Megadontognathus cuyuniensis Mago-Leccia 1994. Apteronotidae: Apteronotinae. Distribution: Cuyuni and Caroní River basins, Bolivar, Venezuela. Habitat: freshwater.
