Lectotype: BMNH 1898.11.40.50 (larger specimen). Paralectotypes: BMNH 1898.11.40.51 (1), MZUT 1538 (3). Replacement name for Curimatus guentheri Boulenger 1898, preoccupied by Curimatus guentheri Eigenmann & Eigenmann 1889. •Valid as Curimatorbis boulengeri (Eigenmann 1907) -- (Ovchynnyk 1967:32 [ref. 37559]). •Valid as Pseudocurimata boulengeri (Eigenmann 1907) -- (Vari 1989:17 [ref. 13475], Vari in Reis et al. 2003:59 [ref. 27061], Barriga Salazar 2014:105 [ref. 35745], Jiménez-Prado et al. 2015:86 [ref. 34894], Dillman & Vari 2024:326 [ref. 40817]). Replacement Name. Current status: Valid as Pseudocurimata boulengeri (Eigenmann 1907). Curimatidae. Distribution: South America: rivers draining into northern Gulf of Guayaquil (Ecuador). Habitat: freshwater.
