Appeared first in Yang & Chen 1993:125 [ref. 23234] as above (see Kottelat & Bréhier 1999:358 [ref. 24929] for information on publication and for designation of the lectotype). Also appeared in Yang, Chen & Lan 1994:93, Fig. 2 [ref. 21377]. •Valid as Protocobitis typhlops Yang & Chen -- (Kottelat & Bréhier 1999:358 [ref. 24929], Romero & Paulson 2001:19 [ref. 26040], Proudlove 2006:107 [ref. 28992], Zhu et al. 2008:452 [ref. 29758], Romero et al. 2009 [ref. 30522] dated 1994, Zhao et al. 2011:1552 [ref. 31493], Kottelat 2012:41 [ref. 32367], Ma & Zhao 2012:110 [ref. 34891] with authors as Yang, Chen & Lan 1994, Lan et al. 2013:145 [ref. 32910], Zhang et al. 2016:153 [ref. 34477], Zhou et al. 2024:4 [ref. 40870]). Current status: Valid as Protocobitis typhlops Yang & Chen 1993. Cobitidae. Distribution: East Asia: cave system in Du'an County, Hongshui River drainage, uuper Red River basin, Guangxi Province, China. Habitat: freshwater.
