pentafasciata, Stonogobiops Iwata [A.] & Hirata [T.] 1994:189, Figs. 1-2 [Japanese Journal of Ichthyology v. 41 (no. 2); ref. 21443] Kashiwajima Island, 32°45'N, 132°38'E, Otsuki-cho, Hata-gun, Kochi Prefecture, Japan. Holotype: NSMT-P 45538. Paratypes: AMS I.34235-001 (1), LICPP 1991547 (1), BMNH 1993.9.7.2 (1). Combined with a masculine genus, the adjective should be pentafasciatus. •Valid as Stonogobiops pentafasciatus Iwata & Hirata 1994 (often seen as pentafasciata) -- (Tomonori et al. 1994:6 [ref. 24598], Nakabo 2000:1224 [ref. 25182], Yoshino & Shimada 2001:408 [ref. 25786], Nakabo 2002:1224 [ref. 26193], Parenti 2021:224 [ref. 38603]). Current status: Valid as Stonogobiops pentafasciatus Iwata & Hirata 1994. Gobiidae: Gobiinae. Distribution: Northwestern Pacific: Japan. IUCN (2024): Not Assessed. Habitat: marine.
