Paralectotypes: ZIN 13051 (7 of 8, with lectotype). On p. 13 of separate. Spelled Braschnicowii on p. 14. Also described in Borodin 1905:268 [ref. 15340]. Spelled braschnikovi in literature. Lectotype established by Svetovidov 1952:258 [ref. 21481]. •Valid as Caspialosa brashnikovi, with subspecies -- (Berg 1948:116 [ref. 12882], Whitehead 1985:195 [ref. 5141], Reshetnikov et al. 1997:726 [ref. 24702] as braschnikowii). •Valid as Alosa braschnikowi (Borodin 1904) -- (Whitehead 1985:195 [ref. 5141] as braschnikovi, Coad 1995:8 [ref. 23608], Dorofeeva 1998:24 [ref. 23573] as braschnikowii, Coad 1998:102 [ref. 23869], Bogutskaya & Naseka 2004:32 [ref. 28183], Fricke et al. 2007:25 [ref. 29533] as braschnikovi, Esmaeili et al. 2010:366 [ref. 33391], Jouladeh-Roudbar et al. 2015:859 [ref. 34062], Esmaeili et al. 2017:27 [ref. 35254], Esmaeili et al. 2018:8 [ref. 36089], Jouladeh-Roudbar et al. 2020:21 [ref. 37983] as braschnikowii, Kaya et al. 2020:328 [ref. 37582], Dyldin et al. 2022:[14] [ref. 39193], Çiçek et al. 2023:331 [ref. 40625], Çiçek et al. 2024:38 [ref. 40789]). Current status: Valid as Alosa braschnikowi (Borodin 1904). Alosidae. Distribution: Eurasia: Caspian Sea and its watersheds. Habitat: freshwater, brackish, marine.
