Holotype: SIO 72-1. Paratypes: SIO 64-1018 (1) (ex UCLA W64-40), 15-554 (1) (ex UCLA W67-33); USNM 89728 (1). Type catalog: Smith 1994:29 [ref. 21917]. •Mention -- (McCosker 1977:63 [ref. 6836]). •Valid as Callechelys galapagensis McCosker & Rosenblatt 1972 -- (Grove & Lavenberg 1997:168 [ref. 24023], McCosker 1998:198 [ref. 23298], Randall 2007:65 [ref. 30952], McCosker & Rosenblatt 2010:188 [ref. 30957], Grove et al. 2022:16 [ref. 41326]). Current status: Valid as Callechelys galapagensis McCosker & Rosenblatt 1972. Ophichthidae: Ophichthinae. Distribution: Eastern Pacific: Galapagos Islands (Ecuador) endemic. Habitat: marine.
