Type catalog: Moore et al. 2008:25 [ref. 30117]. •Valid as Apogon neotes Allen, Kuiter & Randall 1994 -- (Allen 1997:108 [ref. 23977], Kuiter 1997:146 [ref. 25488] as neotus, Fraser 1998:989 [ref. 23602], Myers 1999:125 [ref. 23965], Allen 1999:2606 [ref. 24812], Allen 2000:100 [ref. 25868], Allen & Adrim 2003:35 [ref. 26830], Randall et al. 2004:14 [ref. 27624], Allen et al. 2006:1091 [ref. 29004]). •Valid as Ostorhinchus neotes (Allen, Kuiter & Randall 1994) -- (Allen & Erdmann 2012:399 [ref. 31980], Fricke et al. 2014:75 [ref. 33932], Mabuchi et al. 2014:200 [ref. 33426], Mabuchi et al. 2015:44 [ref. 34429], Fricke et al. 2019:136 [ref. 36673], Kuiter & Kozawa 2019:100 [ref. 36965]). Current status: Valid as Ostorhinchus neotes (Allen, Kuiter & Randall 1994). Apogonidae: Apogoninae. Distribution: Western Pacific: Indonesia east to Palau and New Ireland (Papua New Guinea), north to Philippines, south to Solomon Islands. Habitat: marine.
