Holotype: NCIP 6109. Paratypes: AMS I.34554-001 (10); BPBM 34112 (5), 34134 (22); NCIP 6110-16 (7); USNM 328635 (10); WAM P.30372-002 (34), 30402-002 (85). Type catalog: Moore et al. 2008:25 [ref. 30117]. •Valid as Apogon nanus Allen, Kuiter & Randall 1994 -- (Allen 1997:108 [ref. 23977], Fraser 1998:990 [ref. 23602], Allen 1999:2606 [ref. 24812], Allen 2000:100 [ref. 25868], Allen & Adrim 2003:35 [ref. 26830]). •Valid as Ostorhinchus nanus (Allen, Kuiter & Randall 1994) -- (Allen & Erdmann 2012:399 [ref. 31980], Fricke et al. 2014:75 [ref. 33932], Mabuchi et al. 2014:200 [ref. 33426], Fricke et al. 2019:136 [ref. 36673], Kuiter & Kozawa 2019:99 [ref. 36965]). Current status: Valid as Ostorhinchus nanus (Allen, Kuiter & Randall 1994). Apogonidae: Apogoninae. Distribution: Western Pacific: Malaysia and Indonesia east to New Ireland (Papua New Guinea), north to Philippines, south to Solomon Islands. Habitat: marine.
