Distribution: Indo-West Pacific: KwaZulu-Natal (South Africa), East Africa, Gulf of Oman, Persian Gulf, Seychelles, Comoros, Saint Brandon's Shoals (Cargados Carajos) and Mascarenes (Mauritius) east to Marquesas Islands (French Polynesia), north to southern Japan, south to Queensland (Australia). IUCN (2019): Least concern. Habitat: marine.
