Current status: Valid as Stiphodon surrufus Watson & Kottelat 1995. Gobiidae: Sicydiinae. Distribution: Western Pacific: Sulawesi (Indonesia) and Philippines southeast to Solomon Islands, north to Japan, south to Papua New Guinea and Australia [amphidromous]. Habitat: freshwater, brackish, marine.
