Zool. D.N.R. College, Bhimavaram (2). Named after Miss A. V. S. Sirisha, daughter of the author's cousin, the correct species epithet would be sirishae. •Valid as Ilisha sirishai Seshagiri Rao 1975 (also seen as sirishae) -- (Whitehead 1985:276 [ref. 5141], Randall 1995:69 [ref. 22896], Carpenter et al. 1997:116 [ref. 23922], Munroe et al. 1999:1766 [ref. 24728], Munroe & Nizinski in Randall & Lim 2000:587 [ref. 25122], Manilo & Bogorodsky 2003:S96 [ref. 27377], Psomadakis et al. 2015:161 [ref. 34104], Ali et al. 2018:311 [ref. 36183], Eagderi et al. 2019:31 [ref. 37020], Psomadakis et al. 2020:303 [ref. 37272], Anderson 2022:163 [ref. 39690]). Current status: Valid as Ilisha sirishai Seshagiri Rao 1975. Pristigasteridae. Distribution: Indo-West Pacific: Persian Gulf and Gulf of Oman east to western Indonesia, north to Gulf of Thailand. Habitat: brackish, marine.
