Holotype: WAM P.30376-023. Paratypes: WAM P.30719-041 (1). Type catalog: Moore et al. 2008:43 [ref. 30117]. Asterropteryx is feminine, so striata is apparently correct. •Valid as Asterropteryx striatus Allen & Munday 1995 -- (Myers 1999:245 [ref. 23965], Allen 2000:118 [ref. 25868], Larson & Murdy 2001:3595 [ref. 26293], Allen & Adrim 2003:57 [ref. 26830]). •Valid as Asterropteryx striata Allen & Munday 1995 -- (Shibukawa & Suzuki 2002:274 [ref. 26337], Shibukawa & Suzuki 2007:109 [ref. 29069], Allen & Erdmann 2012:911 [ref. 31980], Fricke et al. 2014:158 [ref. 33932], Fricke et al. 2019:274 [ref. 36673]). Current status: Valid as Asterropteryx striata Allen & Munday 1995. Gobiidae: Gobiinae. Distribution: Eastern Indian Ocean, western Pacific: Malaysia and Indonesia east to Palau and Fiji, north to Philippines, south to Solomon Islands. Habitat: marine.
