Paralectotypes (numerous): ZIN 4207 (3, lost), 4208a (6), 4209 (13, 1 c&s). Also appeared in Kessler 1879:269 [ref. 14266]. •Valid as Barbatula microphthalma (Kessler 1879) -- (Zhu 1989:27 [ref. 17744], Wu & Wu 1992:137 [ref. 21205], Zhu 1995:108 [ref. 25213]). •Valid as Labiatophysa microphthalma (Kessler 1879) -- (Kottelat 2012:87 [ref. 32367]). •Valid as Triplophysa microphthalma (Kessler 1879) -- (Prokofiev 2004:193 [ref. 27939], Prokofiev 2006:255 [ref. 29061], Cao & Zhang 2008:40 [ref. 29966], Prokofiev 2010:907 [ref. 31096], Zhang et al. 2016:140 [ref. 34477]). Current status: Valid as Triplophysa microphthalma (Kessler 1879). Nemacheilidae. Distribution: Oases of the Chami Depression, Xinijang Uighur Autonomous Region, China. Habitat: freshwater.
