Paratypes: MBUCV-V-23300 to 01 (2, 10); USNM 121499 (10), 324379 (3). Type catalog: Provenzano et al. 1998:6-7 [ref. 24196]. •Valid as Creagrutus paralacus Harold & Vari 1994 -- (Galvis et al. 1997:45 [ref. 23651], Vari & Harold 2001:2 [ref. 25842], Vari & Harold in Reis et al. 2003:125 [ref. 27061], Mirande et al. 2013:763 [ref. 33366], Thomaz et al. 2015:Add. 5 [ref. 33893], DoNascimiento et al. 2017:58 [ref. 35633], Albornoz-Garzón et al. 2018:348 [ref. 36150], Ardila Rodríguez 2023:11 [ref. 40275]). Current status: Valid as Creagrutus paralacus Harold & Vari 1994. Stevardiidae: Creagrutinae. Distribution: South America: southern and eastern tributaries to Lake Maracaibo, Venezuela and Colombia. Habitat: freshwater.
