brevibarba, Triplophysa Ding [R.-H.] 1993:249 (English p. 251), Figs. 5-8 [Acta Zootaxonomica Sinica v. 18 (no. 2); ref. 21972] Mianning County, 28°34'N, 102°10'E, Sichuan, China, elevation 2000 meters. Holotype: MSINR 900264. Paratypes: IHASW 85038 (1); MSINR 850384 (1, allotype), 900254-263 (10). Subjectively invalid; apparently secondarily preoccupied in Triplophysa by Nemachilus yarkandensis brevibarbus Herzenstein 1888 as treated by Wu & Wu 1992:257 [ref. 21205]. Replaced by Triplophysia dingi Prokofiev 2010, but Kottelat 2012:124 [ref. 32367] disagrees saying an unneeded replacement name. •Valid as Triplophysa brevibarba Ding 1993 -- (Prokofiev 2001:194 [ref. 26613], He et al. 2012:278 [ref. 32339], Kottelat 2012:124 [ref. 32367], Yan et al. 2015:304 [ref. 33966], Zhang et al. 2016:136 [ref. 34477], Wu et al. 2016:295 [ref. 34665], Guo 2021:594 [ref. 38618]). Current status: Valid as Triplophysa brevibarba Ding 1993. Nemacheilidae. Distribution: Upper Yangtze River basin, China. Habitat: freshwater.
