A.] 1996:252, Figs. 1, 2a, 3a [Revista de Biología Tropical v. 44 (no. 1); ref. 21937] Quebrada Banegas, tributary of Río Rincón, 3 kilometers southwest of Rincón, upper Golfo Dulce, 8°40'20"N, 83°31'10"W, Pacific coast of Costa Rica, below elevation of 10 meters. Holotype: LACM 45893-1. Paratypes: LACM 20050-52 (1, 1, 2); UCR 1318-8 (3). Type catalog: Angulo et al. 2015:374 [ref. 35212]. •Valid as Eleotris tecta Bussing 1996 -- (Bussing 1998:418 [ref. 24179], Pezold & Cage 2002:47 [ref. 25941], Kullander in Reis et al. 2003:659 [ref. 27061], Van Tassell 2011:147 [ref. 31732], Angulo et al. 2013:1006 [ref. 33194], Angulo et al. 2020:7 [ref. 37425], Parenti 2021:39 [ref. 38603]). Current status: Valid as Eleotris tecta Bussing 1996. Eleotridae: Eleotrinae. Distribution: Central America, northwestern South America: Pacific slope of Costa Rica, Panama and Colombia. Habitat: freshwater, brackish, marine.
