Day notes, "Hamilton Buchanan has given an engraving of this species; but the description was omitted from the `Fishes of the Ganges.'" But name apparently dates to Valenciennes 1840 (see Ng & Ferraris 2000:132 [ref. 25041], Ferraris 2007:89 [ref. 29155]). •Synonym of Hemibagrus menoda (Hamilton 1822) -- (Ataur Rahman 2003:219 [ref. 31338], Ferraris 2007:90 [ref. 29155]). 1°Homonym.
