Named pamvotis by Schmidt-Ries 1943:334 [ref. 23019]. •Synonym of Leuciscus cephalus (Linnaeus 1758) -- (Kottelat 1997:66 [ref. 22952]). •Valid as Squalius pamvoticus (Stephanidis 1939) -- (Kottelat & Freyhof 2007:271 [ref. 29996], Bogutskaya & Zupančič 2010:53 [ref. 30905], Zupančič et al. 2010:155 [ref. 31002], Perea et al. 2010:14 [ref. 31802], Barbieri et al. 2015:66 [ref. 35029], Shumka et al. 2023:40 [ref. 40747]).
