See account of Formosania; the genus Crossostoma is preoccupied. •Valid as Crossostoma paucisquama Zheng 1981 -- (Zheng in Pan et al. 1991:273 [ref. 23876], Zhu 1995:132 [ref. 25213], Chen & Tang in Yue 2000:467 [ref. 25272], Tang & Chen 2000:5 [ref. 25445] as pauciquama, Zhang & Wang 2011:87 [ref. 31283] as pauciquama). •Valid as Formosania paucisquama (Zheng 1981) -- (Novák et al. 2006:92 [ref. 28661], Kottelat 2012:61 [ref. 32367], Zhang et al. 2016:159 [ref. 34477], Sun et al. 2023:219 [ref. 40543]). Current status: Valid as Formosania paucisquama (Zheng 1981). Gastromyzontidae. Distribution: East Asia: Lianjiang, Rongjiang and Hanjiang River drainages, Guangdong Province, China. Habitat: freshwater.
