arborella, Aspius Bonaparte [C. L.] 1841:Fasc. 30, punt. 157 [Iconografia della fauna italica; ref. 512] Lakes of northern Italy. No types known. Syntypes: ANSP 6075-6076 (1,1). Described in the account of Aspius alburnis but regarded as available. Treated as a nomenproctectum under art. 23.9.1.2 by Kottelat & Bianco 2005:180 [ref. 28261] •Synonym of Alburnus alburnus (Linnaeus 1758), but a valid subspecies -- (Bianco 1988:151 [ref. 22383]). •Synonym of Alburnus alburnus (Linnaeus 1758) -- (Kottelat 1997:45 [ref. 22952]). •Valid as Alburnus arborella (Bonaparte 1841) -- (Kottelat & Bianco 2005:179 [ref. 28261], Kottelat & Freyhof 2007:165 [ref. 29996], Buj et al. 2010:131 [ref. 30888], Perea et al. 2010:14 [ref. 31802], Bianco & Delmastro 2011:5 [ref. 31648], Ćaleta et al. 2019:157 [ref. 37026], Lorenzoni et al. 2019:251 [ref. 37108]). Current status: Valid as Alburnus arborella (Bonaparte 1841). Leuciscidae: Leuciscinae. Distribution: Southern Europe: Switzerland, Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Habitat: freshwater.
