Paralectotypes: IHASW 65018-21(4), 591034 (1). Original description of Chu & Wang 1963 in Chu, Chen et al. [ref. 13584] was apparently unpublished. Zhang & Chen 2006:49 [ref. 28775] correctly date the species to Wu et al. 1977 based on 6 syntypes; and they selected a lectotype. Wu et al. were the first to publish the name in an available way for specimens from the upper Mekong basin and Nanpan Jiang of the upper Zhu Jiang (Pearl River) basin; the species dates to them as above. •Valid as Sinilabeo yunnanensis (Chu & Wang 1963) -- (Wu et al. 1977:341 [ref. 4807], Chu & Cui in Chu & Chen 1989:264 [ref. 13584], Zhu 1995:66 [ref. 25213], Chen in Chen 1998:174 [ref. 23556]). •Listed in the synonymy of Sinilabeo zhui Zheng & Chen 1898 -- (Zhang et al. in Yue 2000:193 [ref. 25272]). •Valid as Bangana yunnanensis (not Chu & Wang 1963 but Wu & Lin 1977) -- (Zhang & Chen 2006:49 [ref. 28775], Liu & Zhou 2009:65 [ref. 30000], Kottelat 2013:76 [ref. 32989], Zhang et al. 2016:108 [ref. 34477]). •Valid as Altigena yunnanensis (Wu & Lin 1977) -- (Kottelat 2017:494 [ref. 35262], Zheng et al. 2018:93 [ref. 36131], Fu et al. 2021:9570 [ref. 39347]). Current status: Valid as Altigena yunnanensis (Wu & Lin 1977). Cyprinidae: Labeoninae. Distribution: Southeast Asia: upper Mekong River basin (Yunnan/China). Habitat: freshwater.
