croatica, Knipowitschia punctatissima Mrakovčić [M.], Kerovec [M.], Misetic [S.] & Schneider [D.] 1996:313, Figs. 1-2 [Conservation of endangered freshwater fish in Europe; ref. 22821] Freshwater spring, 43°10'N, 17°25'E, near bridge, Polje Jezero, Dalmatia, Croatia. Holotype: HZM 9 VRG. Paratypes: HZM, ZZSZ, NMW. Appeared first in program abstracts for participants in a symposium in 1994. Although the authors felt that constituted publication in 1994, Eschmeyer 1998 [ref. 23416] has interpreted these program abstracts, the purpose of which is for use by the participants, as not intended for the permanent scientific record and new taxa are unavailable; species dated to 1996. Since the authors date the taxon to 1994 with syntypes, they name a lectotype in 1996 -- which should be regarded as the holotype. •Valid as Knipowitschia croatica Mrakovčić, Kerovec, Misetic & Schneider 1996 -- (Kottelat 1997:177 [ref. 22952] dating to 1994, Miller in Miller 2004:363 [ref. 27853] dating to 1994, Kovačić & Sanda 2007:83 [ref. 29335], Zupančič 2008:69 [ref. 29926] dated to 1994, Kottelat & Freyhof 2007:569 [ref. 29996], Miller 2009:1506 [ref. 30234], Ćaleta et al. 2015:65 [ref. 34877]). •Valid as Orsinigobius croaticus (Mrakovčić, Kerovec, Misetic & Schneider 1996) -- (Geiger et al. 2014:Table S2 [ref. 37408], Thacker et al. 2018:[8] [ref. 36082], Ćaleta et al. 2019:183 [ref. 37026], Tutman et al. 2020:6 [ref. 38008], Parenti 2021:335 [ref. 38603]).
